Hopefully, we all have some things on our wish lists that we want to do, see or accomplish before our time is up. Having turned 40 years old last December, I've been thinking a little more about where I am in life and what I want to accomplish as I hit what's probably the back half of my life. Not an existential or mid-life crisis; just more taking the time to really think about where to use my time most effectively when planning adventures (either big or small).
I am so lucky to have a wonderful wife and two dogs that get joy out of seeing me on a daily basis. I'm so glad to be able to be a part of their lives. I'm happy to work as a substitute teacher and hopefully enrich the lives of a few kids every now and again. It's a wonderful feeling helping my clients buy or sell homes when they're ready to do it. The search can be a lot of things: fun, stressful, nerve-wracking, exhilarating, exhausting, but it's so fun to see them after the closing. The mix of relief, joy, and planning. What a phenomenal thing to get to be a part of.
Come July 4th, I'll have a different exciting opportunity. I'll be playing in my first ever World Series of Poker Main Event. I'm a casual poker player, and a decent one at best, but this event has been on my radar since watching 'Rounders' when I was in High School. Sitting at a table with some of the best players in the world and seeing if I can hang with them for a few days. What happens when I go toe to toe with the pros? Am I going to get smoked on Day 1, or last into the money rounds? Should I learn how to bluff? Wouldn't it be cool if I caught a hot run of cards and walked away a big winner? It's so fun for me to think about these things and know that in a few weeks, I get to do it. I get to play in a dream tournament.
I hope you find the time and opportunity to knock something off of your bucket list. It's a wonderful feeling. Thanks again to all of my clients that have helped me earn the living and life I get to lead by letting me help them get to the finish line of a home sale or purchase. In three to four weeks, I'll see which finish line I'll get to cross.
I'm going to leave you with the last line of 'Rounders.' The final prize money has gone up to over $8,000,000 since this movie came out, but the sentiment rings gets to ring true for me in a few weeks. I couldn't be more excited.
