New year, new you!
That’s what you’ll hear a lot of people say over the next few weeks, or maybe the first couple months of the year. We get pumped to make and attempt to commit to resolutions. New job, lose some weight, travel more, maybe even buy a new car or house.
Many of us will take the opportunity to really capitalize on that energy and achieve meaningful changes this year. A lot of us won’t.
It’s not a bad thing, it’s just hard to make change. Work, life, kids, pets, family obligations, budgets and countless other things get in the way of doing the things we feel like we need or want to do to make those changes.
One thing you shouldn’t put off is your home project list. I’m not talking about renovating your kitchen or putting on an edition. Those are costly and time consuming and a lot of us don’t have the resources to tackle something like that on a whim.
I am talking about the little things. Decluttering your closets and dressers. Hanging those pictures that you’ve been meaning to put up. Patching the holes in the wall from a picture that fell, or that got dinged up while moving furniture. Buying new Tupperware since your current stuff is cracked or a little melted.
No matter what your project list looks like, try to get take a few of them head on over the next few months. You’ll feel much better for having accomplished them, and you’ll be in a much better position in the event you’ve been thinking about selling in the next few years. Lists can be scary. Especially if they just keep growing without crossing anything off them.
You can do it. I know you can.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to order some new window blinds and clean my storage area.
Until next time…
Dave
