I don't think a lot of people read this blog. I like to write and I like to share my experience as a Realtor® but I have a pretty small public facing and reading can get boring from time to time.
Even though I like writing, I may like procrastinating even more. If you do come across the blog, you'll notice some occasional lengthy gaps between posts. It isn't because I have nothing going on, it's just that I tend to put this on the back burner. I have always had a problem keeping a consistent plan, and it sometimes shows with my blog or social media. Please note, it only applies to the more mundane aspects of the job. When it comes to my clients, they are always at the top of my priority list.
My procrastinating isn't really the point of this but it does fall in line with people putting off projects in their homes. When you're ready to sell, you want to be able to get the home on the market as soon as possible to maximize value. Certainly some people plan out the process months or even years in advance. Many of us however do not. We wait until the process start rolling fast and we often find ourselves not ready to make the move. What if a house came on the market that you loved, but you need a few weeks to get your home ready to sell? That perfect house becomes a what could have been.
Keeping your house up (within a sensible budget) is important. Having the heating and AC systems serviced regularly (and keep receipts!), keeping the lawn mowed and the tree branches cut back when necessary, fixing cracks in the driveway or foundation, and any other small projects that can feel very overwhelming when you feel like you need to sell now.
If you stay ready to sell (or even just as an added comfort of living in your space), it will feel much less stressful when it comes time to list.
When you are ready to sell, I'm always ready to help. Until next time.
